With the release of this 5th generation, the Sony AIT format has reached its 10-year anniversary.
AIT-5 achieves the original Sony goal to introduce a new generation every 2 years; ensuring AIT is one of the only tape formats in the industry that has delivered against its published roadmap.
AIT offers the markets widest range of data capacities in a single format, with the new AIT-5 delivering a massive 400GB native capacity at 24MB/s native transfer speed. With read & write backwards compatibility with AIT-3, AIT-3Ex and AIT-4 generations, AIT-5 is the ideal drive for the current AIT user with fast growing data storage needs. And through the use of Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) media, AIT-5 also helps facilitate compliance with European data retention regulations too.
As with all Sony StorStation AIT drives, the models come with a hp Proliant server installation kit (internal model only), a bundled backup software package and 3 year Rapid Replacement warranty. The drives are equipped with a dust-protective bezel that ensures the reliability in harsh environments and are tested for compatibility with major vendor servers from hp, IBM, Dell and Fujitsu-Siemens.
