Dotato di caratteristiche paragonabili a quelle dei server 1U installati in rack, il BL46Oc multi-core a 2 processori offre le massime prestazioni associando potenza di elaborazione con efficienza dei consumi e densità elevata con espansione di memoria e di I/O. L'enclosure BladeSystem c7000 supporta fino a 16 server blade BL460c, 2 server in più di IBM BladeCenter e ogni BL460c supporta una capacità di memoria doppia rispetto al server HS21 senza il blade di espansione. Grazie ai processori Intel Xeon Quad Core e Dual Core, DIMM DDR2 Fully Buffered, unità disco SAS o SATA, supporto di schede di rete multifunzione e schede multiple di I/O, il modello BL460c si costituisce come un sistema di alte prestazioni ideale per l'intera gamma di applicazioni scalabili. Nel formato SFF, il BL460c include più funzionalità per offrire elevata disponibilità, quali unità disco hot plug, memoria mirrored, memoria online spare, memoria interlacciata, funzionalità RAID integrata e gestione remota Lights-Out avanzata.
