Con funciones iguales a las de los servidores de montaje en bastidor de 1U de fábrica, el BL460c de dos procesadores y varios núcleos combina gran potencia informática de bajo consumo y una alta densidad con memoria y E/S ampliadas para obtener el máximo rendimiento. La carcasa BladeSystem c7000 admite hasta 16 blades de servidor BL460c, 2 servidores más que el BladeCenter de IBM, y cada BL460c admite el doble de capacidad de memoria que el servidor HS21 sin su blade de expansión. Con los procesadores Intel Xeon Dual Core y Quad Core, los módulos DIMM con memoria intermedia DDR2 completa, las unidades de disco duro SAS o SATA de conexión en serie, la compatibilidad con tarjetas de interfaz de red multifunción y varias tarjetas de E/S, el BL460c ofrece ahora un sistema de alto rendimiento perfecto para la completa gama de aplicaciones de ampliación. Con este formato reducido, el BL460c incluye más funciones que garantizan una alta disponibilidad, como son las unidades de disco duro de conexión en caliente, la memoria duplicada, la memoria de reserva en línea, el intercalado de memoria, la capacidad de RAID incorporada y la gestión remota mejorada de Lights-Out.
