Approximately the size of a postage stamp, the MMC (Multi Media Card) is slightly thinner than the SD format, so MMC cards will also work in SD slots, although the reverse is not true.

The new MMC Plus format bears 11 gold contacts, where MMC cards originally had 7, resulting in much higher performance both in terms of speed and capacity.
